Etnia House of Arts and The 1989 present “Divine Echoes”, an evening with 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗹 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗮 at La Misericordia, Venice.

Through the words of Gabriele Tinti, Abel Ferrara transformed the ancient walls of La Misericordia into a space for confession, reflection and presence, moving through saints, martyrs, relics and the spiritual memory of the Chiesa.

From cinema to poetry, from music to faith, the conversation became a reflection on what it means to create and to remain free:
“Don’t be afraid when you’re lost. Just don’t stay lost… So it's like living in the moment, working in the moment, surviving, you know, it's all in the moment. You're born free so stay free and express yourself…”

Moving between filmmaking and poetry, Abel Ferrara reflected on creativity as something inseparable from the way one lives, acts and responds to the world. His affinity with Gabriel Tinti’s writing opened onto broader questions of faith, the Church and the spiritual currents that have long run through his films.

An encounter between past and present, bringing contemporary interpretation into one of Venice’s historic sacred spaces.
